1979 marked a major technical turning point for Ducati with the 500 SL Pantah. A new engine and a new frame were born, with the aim of modernising the Borgo Panigale twins. This was the first Ducati to be equipped with a trellis frame and a Pantah engine, which did away with the bevel gears used since 1955. Lightweight and easy to ride, the bike flaunted the chiselled design typical of early 80s bikes and a livery complete with logo designed for Ducati by car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. The Multistrada V4 RS 100 livery converses with the tradition of the 500 SL Pantah with details that tell of innovation and continuity. The surfaces are clean and taut, designed to highlight the volumes and function. The “Desmo” logo on the tail section, which adopts the very same font as the original graphics, showcases the Desmosedici Stradale engine’s timing system.
